This page explains which cookies and similar technologies are used on claculator.com, what each category does, and how you can refuse or remove them. Reading this alongside the privacy policy gives you the full picture.
What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file a website saves in your browser. The next time you visit, the browser sends the file back so the site can recognise the browser, remember a setting, or measure traffic. Similar technologies — such as local storage, pixels, and SDKs — work in the same way for the purposes of this page.
Strictly necessary
The calculator itself does not require cookies to work. Your expressions, results, and history are kept in browser memory and are cleared when you close the page. No cookie is set just to run the calculator.
Analytics cookies
The site uses Google Analytics 4. Analytics cookies record anonymous information about how the site is used so we can see which pages are popular, how visitors arrive, and where things break. The cookies typically used are:
_ga— distinguishes one browser from another for traffic measurement._ga_<ID>— used by Google Analytics 4 to maintain session state.
Google's documentation describes how these cookies work and how long they last. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on or by blocking analytics cookies in your browser settings.
Advertising cookies (Google AdSense and partners)
The site is supported by display advertising delivered through Google AdSense. Advertising vendors, including Google, may set or read cookies on your device to:
- Show ads relevant to your interests based on your visits to this site and other sites
- Limit how often a particular ad is shown
- Measure whether ads were seen, clicked, or led to a useful action
- Detect and prevent advertising fraud
Common cookies in this category include NID, IDE, and __gads. Google maintains a fuller list in its documentation.
How to opt out of personalised advertising
- Visit Google Ads Settings to manage how Google personalises ads in your browser.
- Visit aboutads.info/choices to opt out of many participating networks at once (US-focused).
- In the European Union and the United Kingdom, visit YourOnlineChoices to manage advertising preferences across participating vendors.
- Modern browsers can be configured to block third-party cookies entirely or to send a Global Privacy Control signal that the site honours where the law requires.
Third-party content
The site loads fonts from Google Fonts to keep the typography consistent. The Google Fonts CSS endpoint does not set cookies for users at the time of writing, but the request itself may be visible to Google for technical reasons. If this matters for your situation, you can block the relevant domain in your browser; the calculator will fall back to a system font without losing functionality.
Managing cookies in your browser
You can clear or block cookies at any time from your browser settings. The exact steps differ by browser and device, but most browsers let you:
- Delete all cookies stored so far
- Block all cookies, or block third-party cookies only
- Set the browser to ask before accepting a cookie
- Clear cookies automatically when you close the browser
Blocking all cookies will not break the calculator, but it will reduce the relevance of any advertising shown and may sign you out of unrelated sites.
